Long after a war or a conflict has ceased, landmines still continue to endanger human lives. Martin Dahinden outlines the history of the “Mine Action” movement over the last two decades, along with both the various international and Swiss Contributions, including that of the SDC. He points out why the issue of mines – similar to that of HIV/AIDS – is subject to a popularity cycle.
