Address of Martin Dahinden: “What will Development Cooperation look like 20 Years from now”

20th Anniversary of FEDEVACO, 4 June 2009

How might the world look in 20 years? “It is possible to shape the future”, according to a statement made by SDCDirector-General Martin Dahinden upon the occasion of the 20th birthday of the Canton Vaud Development Cooperation Association FEDEVACO. Global issues such as climate change and persistingly wide-spread poverty will still be challenging us. Development cooperation will be called upon to make a decisive contribution to coping with these challenges. And a broad commitment motivated by a spirit of solidarity and sustained by the respect for human rights and the principle of sustainability, will remain just as crucial as it is today.
