Supporting female ex-drug users to reintegrate into their families and
society

The project helps former drug-users, particularly women and children, reintegrate in to their communities and families. The project includes raising communities’ awareness about available services
with the aim of reducing the stigmatisation and rejection of recovering female drug addicts. The project helps develop the ex-addicts’ life skills and focuses on building their self-esteem.

The citizen organisation Réseau Réussir la Décentralisation (Making Decentralization Work) raises the awareness of elected representatives and communities about ways to manage their local resources

In its programme for the promotion of mother and child health, the SDC has developed a range of perinatal services to identify the needs of pregnant women from conception to birth. This programme,
imple-mented by the Swiss Tropical Medicine and Public Health Institute, has led to a general improvement of mother and child health in Ukraine. The programme will eventually cover a region with a
population of 6.8m.

In a country like Morocco, where the natural elements provoke serious incidents, prompt first-aid intervention is crucial in saving lives. To better manage these situations, some Moroccan towns have
deployed their own residents to back up their emergency services when a disaster occurs. The SDC supports this measure and is participating in the training of volunteer relief workers.
