The project in brief DivisionCooperation with Eastern Europe Country / Region Bosnia and Herzegovina Partner Foundation fami, Bosnia and Herzegovina; at local level, public health institutions, Medical Faculty, social centres, psychiatric centres, non-governmental organizations. Introduction / Background information The shortage of general practitioners in Bosnia and Herzegovina drives up health costs. The project is part of government-backed health reforms. A social health network is also lacking. Project target Promotion of family medicine and a contribution to effective, inexpensive health services for the population at large. Cooperation between representatives from health services, social services and civil society is to be promoted to secure better access to care for the socially disadvantaged. In additions, project methods are to be used at national level to reinforce primary health care throughout the state health system. Target group Healthcare professionals and social workers; representatives of civil society; decision-makers, final consumers; the public at large; the poor and disadvantaged.
