The SDC’s rotation system
Job rotation gives staff direct contact with “learning by experience”. After four years in a specific function, permanent staff transfer to new duties in another SDC department at headquarters or abroad, or with an international organization. This rotation is an effective way of preserving and enhancing staff skills, making the SDC a “learning organization”.
We expect our operational staff to “rotate” between postings abroad and at headquarters, between different jobs, and between the SDC and other (private and public) employers. This principle enables Agency employees to acquire extensive experience in various functions and in a wide range of different fields.
This tried-and-tested rotation practice guarantees that our staff obtain the requisite learning experience. Changing challenges allow them to develop the professional and personal skills they need to perform to the best of their ability and advance their careers.
