International Cooperation and the Private Sector
What to expect from each other?

SDC platform for controversial debate on themes related to international cooperation
International cooperation is increasingly interacting with the global private sector. In the UK and in Germany, governmental aid agencies are rethinking their ways of providing official development assistance (ODA). The strategy 2013-2016 of Swiss International Cooperation will underline the importance of the private sector in poverty reduction and development. To be discussed in this event are the following topics and more.
Why are global companies involved in development cooperation and in corporate social responsibility? What forms of cooperation between private sector and public sector do exist? In light of global problems other than poverty, what new ways of cooperation between private sector and public international cooperation may come up in the future?
Speakers:
- Hans Joehr, Nestlé
- Dorje Mundle, Novartis
- Urs Leimbacher, Swiss Re
- Denise Laufer, SwissHoldings
- Jan Atteslander, economiesuisse
Welcome by SDC Vice Director Maya Tissafi. The panel discussion will be moderated in English by Anton Stadler, SDC Analysis and Policy Division. We are looking forward to a lively debate!
