Cooperation Office Quito
Farewell to Ecuador
After forty years of bilateral cooperation, Switzerland closed its cooperation office in Ecuador at the end of June 2010. This closure is based on a decision by the SDC to concentrate its finances on a smaller number of priority countries in order to achieve a greater impact. Ecuador is now a country with a medium income level.

Switzerland's contribution honoured at anniversary ceremony
UN Global Compact Leaders Summit 2010, New York
The UN Global Compact, the largest global initiative for corporate responsibility, honoured an SDC employee at a summit meeting in New York. More than 1,000 participants renewed their commitment to align their business practices with ten principles in the areas of, among other things, human rights and the environment.

Child mortality in Moldova
Combating child mortality through knowledge transfer
To counter the high child mortality rate in Moldova, the World Health Organisation (WHO) and the United Nations Children's Fund, UNICEF, have developed a pro-gramme to train family doctors, nursing personnel and future parents about the care of small children.
